ISLAMABAD, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan strongly condemned the "heinous and reprehensible" suicide attacks that targeted innocent civilians at a voters' registration center in capital Kabul of Afghanistan on Sunday.

The Afghan Public Health Ministry said death toll from the deadly Kabul suicide attack reached 52 and 112 others were wounded.

"We are grieved at the loss of precious innocent lives in this brutal act of terrorism," the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry's spokesman Mohammad Faisal expressed sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

"Pakistan is confident that such attacks would not deter the resolve of the Afghan people to determine their own future through the exercise of their right to vote," the spokesman said.

He said Pakistan reiterates its unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and expresses solidarity with the government and people of Afghanistan in this hour of grief and sorrow.

Reports suggested that the Islamic State group claimed responsible for the Kabul attack.
