TOKYO, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday on Wall Street's weak tone overnight following a rise in U.S. long-term government bond yields triggering a sell-off.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 149.07 points, or 0.67 percent, from Tuesday to 22,129.05.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 9.63 points, or 0.54 percent, at 1,760.12.
Iron and steel, machinery and electric appliance-oriented issues comprised those declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
