TRIPOLI, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Libya's UN-backed government will set up a higher committee to secure the return of displaced Libyans abroad, according to one official.
Minister of Displaced People's Affairs Yousuf Jalala told Xinhua,"The process will be carried out through the personal application of every Libyan (displaced) in a particular country to return and restore their rights and properties."
He also stressed that the application will be carried out through Libyan embassies abroad, where representatives will be appointed to handle applications.
Since the 2011 uprising in Libya, many Libyans affiliated to the former government and those involved in the conflict had to flee the country for fear of persecution.
Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria are the main destinations for displaced Libyans.
