BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed down Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.35 percent, at 3,117.97 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.09 percent lower at 10,547.10 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style enterprises, gained 0.69 percent to close at 1,819.41 points.
Combined turnover on the two bourses stood at 419.5 billion yuan (about 66.59 billion U.S. dollars).
Wednesday's fall was tracking Wall Street losses.
Banks led the decline. China Mingsheng Banking Corp. fell 1.65 percent to close at 7.75 yuan. China Citic Bank Corporation Ltd ended at 6.4 yuan, down 1.23 percent.
Coal producers fell. China Shenhua Energy Company Ltd closed down 1.99 percent 20.71 yuan. Datong Coal Mine Group was down 1.11 percent to end at 5.33 yuan.
Bucking the trend, software producers gained. Hangzhou Lianluo Interactive Information Technology Co., Ltd rose by its daily limit of 10 percent to end at 7 yuan. Inspur Software Co. Ltd increased 1.59 percent to end at 21.66 yuan.
