JAKARTA, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Tanjung Lesung, Banten province will host the Rhino Cross Triathlon (Rhino X-Tri) on September 29-30 this year, to feature more challenging competitions and more extreme sport events, the organizer said here on Wednesday.
"The Rhino X-Tri this year offers more challenging competition with farther distances. Besides that, two new competitions: the Rhino Trail Run and Rhino Mountain Bike XCM, will be introduced in the upcoming event," 2018 Rhino X-Tri Event Director Tense Manalu told a press conference.
Part of the Rhino Trail Run category which takes a 50 kilometer route, the Ultra Class, will be submitted as part of 2020 Asian Trail Master international competition calendar, Tense said.
The upcoming Rhino X Tri in Tanjung Lesung will include swimming, cycling and running in three classes called Eagle, Rhino and Bull with longer distances than the previous one held last year in the same location.
The Eagle Class would include 1,500-meter swimming, 30-kilometer cycling and 15-kilometer running. In Rhino Class, the organizer has set up 1,000 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling and 10 kilometers of running.
In the Bull Class, participants will swim 500 meters, cycle 10 kilometers and run 5 kilometers.
Meanwhile in the new competition Rhino Mountain Bike XCM, the organizer would contend competitions in various men's and women's classes, consisting of Men Elite, Women Open, Men Open and Men Master.
"Besides more extreme demands on the athletes, the event this year will pass through the beautiful and exotic landscape around Tanjung Lesung," Tense added.
Due to similar triathlon competitions held in Singapore and Beijing around that date, the organizer has set a target to see at least 100 foreign athletes participating in Rhino X-Tri event in Tanjung Lesung this year.
