PARIS, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Jobless in France was down by 1 percent for the first three months this year from a quarter earlier as an economic improvement bolstered job creation in the eurozone's second largest economy, official figures showed on Wednesday.

Over the period, France registered 33,300 fewer jobless people, pulling the country's total number of people without work to some 3.4 million, the Labor Ministry said.

Year on year, the jobless rate dropped by 1.4 percent, the ministry's figures showed.

French President Emmanuel Macron has promised to bring down unemployment rate to 7 percent by 2022.

To lower the rate, which is currently at 9.7 percent, the president has pledged to pour 15 billion euros (18.28 billion U.S. dollars) during his five-year mandate to train poor skilled jobless youth. ( 1 euro = 1.219 U.S. dollar)
