STOCKHOLM, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The iconic Swedish pop group ABBA has produced new music for the first time since 1981 when their album The Visitors was released, the band's manager Gorel Hanser confirmed on Friday in an interview with Swedish Television.

According to Hanser, the group -- made up of band members Agnetha Faltskog, Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Anni-Frid -- has recorded two new songs, called Don't shut me down and I Still Have Faith in You.

"They are fantastic ABBA tunes and they will feel familiar," Hanser said, adding that "I Still Have Faith in You" will be part of a television program that is produced by NBC and BBC and that will be broadcast in December.

The band members themselves will not appear in the program. Instead, their digital alter egos, or "abbatars", will perform the song, Hanser explained.

Bjorn Ulvaeus has also previously said that the digital versions of him and his fellow band members will go on tour.

Announcing the news about the two new tracks, the ABBA band members wrote, in a press release: "We all felt that, after 35 years, it would be fun to meet and go into the recording studio."

"We may have become old, but the song is new and that feels good," the band members wrote.

ABBA sold over 400 million records between 1972 and 1982. Their big breakthrough came in 1974 when they competed with the song Waterloo in the Eurovision Song Contest.

ABBA did their last studio recording in 1982 and has since then only performed once, in a Swedish television show.
