BANGKOK, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Police have seized some highly-priced cannabis oil alongside a large haul of marijuana allegedly bound to be smuggled out of southern Thailand and destined for Europe, said a police general on Wednesday.

The police in Udon Thani and Khon Kaen provinces seized 3 kilograms of cannabis oil, extracted from marijuana plants, and 598 kilograms of marijuana bars from two sedans and a pick-up truck and arrested four suspected drug traffickers in those northeastern provinces over the last weekend, said Narcotics Suppression Bureau commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Sommai Kongwisaisuk.

The suspects were allegedly on their way to an undisclosed spot where they would have delivered the marijuana and cannabis oil, which were allegedly destined for somewhere in Europe, he said.

The cannabis oil could probably be sold for as much as 500,000 baht (about 16,000 U.S. dollars) per kilogram in the blackmarket, compared to about 10,000 baht (about 318 U.S. dollars) for a kilogram of plain marijuana.
