MOSCOW, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The Federal Security Service (FSB) killed two suspected terrorists during an operation in Nevinnomyssk city in North Caucasus, on Friday, the Russian agency said.
"Two leaders of a religious extremist cell who had plotted terrorist attacks resisted during the detention and were killed," the FSB said in a statement.
An improvised explosive device, firearms, ammunition and grenades were discovered at the scene of the incident, the statement said.
In a separate statement, the FSB said it detained five suspected members of the Islamic State.
Also, during an operation in Yaroslavl, a city 250 km northeast of Moscow, the FSB said it discovered an arsenal of improvised explosive devices, explosives, firearms and ammunition.
