Host Hungary retains mixed relay gold at UIPM Pentathlon World Cup

BUDAPEST, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Hungary retained mixed relay gold medal at the UIPM 2018 Pentathlon World Cup III in Kecskemet, central Hungary on Monday.

The Sarolta Kovacs/Bence Demeter duo successfully defended their title with 1,410 points, first both in the fencing and in the swimming, 7th in the riding, and 14th in the final laser-run (running/shooting).

The silver medal went to Kate Coleman Lenehan/Michael Healy from Ireland on 1,395 points.

The Chinese team composed of Zhong Xiuting and Zhang Linbin obtained the bronze medal with 1,384 points.

The duo of Belarus, Tatsiana Khaldoba and Pavel Tsikhanau, came in fourth with 1,375 points.

Seventeen teams participated in the relay mix event, which kicked off last Saturday when Olympic Champion Chloe Esposito of Australia won the women's individual gold.

On Sunday, Woongtae Jun of South Korea claimed the men's individual title with a dominant performance.
