PARIS, May 12 (Xinhua) -- A 1993 McLaren F1 car raced by Ayrton Senna, the late Brazilian world champion, has sold for 4.19 million euros (4.90 million U.S. dollars) Saturday at an auction in Monaco.
Auctioneers Bonhams did not reveal who bought the Ford Cosworth-powered MP4/8A car, with the 4,19 million euro price including the buyer's premium, but said it went after a "lengthy and spirited bidding exchange."
The McLaren was the last F1 car raced around the street circuit by the triple champion, who died at Italy's Imola circuit in a Williams in May 1994, and took Senna to his record sixth win in the principality.
Senna's first Monaco car, a 1984 Toleman-Hart TG184, also sold at the 'Les Grandes Marques a Monaco' auction for 1.6 million euros.
