DUBLIN, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Two people were critically injured after a light aircraft went down in central part of Ireland on Sunday afternoon, reported local media RTE.

The injured are the pilot believed to be a British national and a seven-year-old boy on board, said the report.

Their conditions and the cause of the crash are not known at this moment, according to local police.

The accident took place shortly after 16 skydivers on board jumped off the plane, which took off from Clonbullogue airfield in the country's central county of Offaly at about 2:30 p.m.

The crashed plane was later located in a bog land lying several kilometers away from the airfield, rescue workers told local media.

Local media quoted officials in Offaly as saying that the area where the plane crashed has been a place for skydivers for the last 20 years or so, and many people come to the place for skydiving during weekends in summer time. They said that they have never heard of any plane crash in the area before.

The boy on board is said to be a son of a member of a parachute club. Other detailed about the two injured are not immediately available.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit has dispatched three officials to the site to determine the cause of the plane crash, said local media.
