KIEV, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine has chosen a location to build a testing platform for the Hyperloop transport system, local authorities said Tuesday.

The municipal development agency of Dnipro city in central Ukraine said in a statement that a special working group agreed that the testing platform will be created in the industrial park Innovation Forpost in Dnipro.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan wrote on Facebook that Ukraine has closely cooperated on the project with Virgin Hyperloop One and DP World Cargospeed, the companies that develop Hyperloop technologies internationally.

Omelyan said earlier that the Hyperloop testing platform would be launched in Ukraine in 2019.

The Hyperloop concept, created by tech billionaire Elon Musk in 2013, is aimed at putting humans or cargo into special pods that move at more than 1,000 km per hour, or faster than a speeding plane, inside a partially pressurized enclosed track.
