BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Chen Xi Tuesday stressed the importance of resolutely safeguarding the core status of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and the authority of the CPC Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership.

Chen, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee (Chinese Academy of Governance), made the remarks while attending an opening ceremony for the second group of students at the school's 2018 spring semester.

Chen asked the students to strive to fulfill their duties and make pragmatic progress in their daily work.

"Efforts should be made to foster a right concept on political achievements, with an emphasis on practical work," Chen said.

They were told to be clean and honest when carrying out reform and innovation.
