SOFIA, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and his visiting Spanish counterpart Mariano Rajoy on Tuesday expressed their concerns about the Iran nuclear deal and Brexit.

"What worries us is the instability in the Middle East, as well as the withdrawal of the United States from the nuclear agreement with Iran, which is not a good sign," Rajoy said at a joint press conference after talks with Borissov.

The European Union (EU) wants to play a constructive role in this respect, Rajoy said.

Borissov said that U.S. President Donald Trump's abandonment of the nuclear deal with Iran could cause severe shaking afterwards.

The developments in countries such as Iran, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen and Afghanistan subsequently caused problems for Europe, Borissov said.

"It was these wars that led to the migrant crisis," Borissov said.

On Wednesday, EU leaders would gather in Sofia on the eve of the EU-Western Balkans Summit, and discuss all these issues to have a common European position, Borissov said.

Meanwhile, Rajoy said that he and Borissov discussed the challenge of Brexit as it affects the interests of citizens.

Borissov said that many UK citizens live in Spain and Bulgaria and vice versa -- many companies and citizens of Spain and Bulgaria live in Britain.

"So, our relationships with the government in London must necessarily be good and we have to find the best possible option for Brexit," Borissov said.
