Journalist shot dead near home in SE Mexico

MEXICO CITY, May 15 (Xinhua) -- A journalist was shot dead near his home on Tuesday in Villahermosa, the capital city of Mexico's southeastern state of Tabasco.

Juan Carlos Huerta, 45, was a host of a local radio news program and a nightly TV news show.

An armed man opened fire at Huerta after he rammed his pickup truck into Huerta's car near the residential complex of Las Hadas in northwestern Villahermosa, Tabasco Prosecutor Fernando Valenzuela said in a statement.

Police and federal agents are searching for the attacker, Valenzuela said.

So far this year, at least three journalists including Huerta have been killed in Mexico.
