BERLIN, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Eintracht Frankfurt have appointed Adi Huetter as their new coach for the upcoming season, the "Eagles" confirmed in an official statement on Wednesday.

The 48-year-old Young Boys head coach replaced departing Niko Kovac after putting pen to paper on a deal until the summer 2021.

"Adi is a true football expert who lives this sport to the core. His vita is impressive because he as proven that he can get the best out of little financial opportunities at several clubs. Adi has always been our preferred candidate. We are looking forward to a great cooperation," Frankfurt's sporting director Fredi Bobic said.

Huetter stands since 2015 at the sidelines of Swiss club Young Boys. He led to club on the second place finish twice and reaped the Swiss championship this season. His current club may clinch the domestic double as they face Zurich in the Swiss Cup final on May 27.

"I experienced three wonderful years with Young Boys and I will always remember this time. The move to Eintracht Frankfurt is a dream that comes true. As a player I was denied to transfer into the Bundesliga. As a coach I already rejected a Bundesliga offer, but now, I am all the more looking forward to being in the league of the World champions," Huetter said.

The "Eagles" have completed the Bundesliga season 2017-2018 on the 8th place of the standings. They still have the opportunity to round off their season as they face Bayern Munich in the German Cup final on Saturday.

It will be the last match for current coach Niko Kovac, who will be Bayern Munich's next head coach. Enditem
