Canadian stock market keeps rising

TORONTO, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Canada's main stock market closed slightly up again Thursday due to rise of energy stocks.

The Toronto Stock Exchange' s S&P/TSX rose 35.49 points, or 0.22 percent, to end the day at 16,143.55 points.

On the index, 126 issues advanced and 112 declined.

The Canadian dollar went up 0.05 cent to 0.78.12 U.S. dollar.

The energy group rose 4.38 points, or 2.12 percent, while the financials sector fell 0.16 points, or -0.05 percent.

Canadian Natural Resources jumped 8.9 points.

ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. surged 11.1 percent and Spartan Energy Corp soared 6.6 percent while Vermilion Energy Inc jumped six percent.

Aphria Inc dipped 6.8 percent and Aurora Cannabis Inc fell 3.5 percent while Kinaxis Inc declined 2.8 percent.
