SINGAPORE, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 1.32 percent or 46.91 points to close at 3,496.27.
A total of 1.36 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.33 billion Singaporean dollars (about 986.9 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 307 to 156.
The STI index closed down 0.14 percent or 5.05 points to close at 3543.18 Tuesday.
