Dollar inches down to lower 109 yen zone on continued geopolitical concerns

TOKYO, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar dropped to the lower 109 yen zone briefly on Thursday in Tokyo amid continued uncertainties over the summit between leaders of the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The dollar was quoted at 109.61-63 yen at 5 p.m. compared with 110.03-13 yen in New York and 109.99-110.01 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. It moved between 109.34 yen and 110.04 yen during the day.

The euro fetched 1.1722-1723 dollars and 128.49-53 yen against 1.1692-1702 dollars and 128.71-81 yen in New York and 1.1711-1712 dollars and 128.81-85 yen in Tokyo late Wednesday afternoon.
