TEHRAN, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) warned the United States of the consequences of possible attack on the Islamic republic, according to local media on Thursday.

The Iranian Armed Forces are in the possession of valuable experience reached over the past decades, including in the span of eight-year Iran-Iraq war in 1980s, the statement said.

The armed forces have boosted the country's deterrent power and defense capabilities, it said.

Iran also has full intelligence control over the "hostile moves," including those of the United States, in the region, it added.

Iran's Supreme Leader on Wednesday said that "since the beginning of the Islamic revolution (in 1979), the United States has not given up its enmity against the Islamic republic. They have harnessed all political, economic, military and propaganda measures against Iran."

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed to preserve Iran's ballistic missile power in the face of any possible egression against the country.

The Iranian tough stance against the United States follows a speech by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday, in which he threatened to impose the toughest sanctions on Iran if the Islamic state does not change its course of action domestically and regionally.
