WARSAW, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) planned to help repair the water supply system destroyed by the war against the Islamic State in Iraq's provinces of Nineveh and Salah ad Din, local media reported Thursday.

The planned work will be carried out by an international consortium, with PAH being part of it while the financing has been secured by the EU regional trust fund in response to the Syrian crisis, the Polish Press Agency reported, quoting PAH coordinator for Iraq Marcin Podlesny.

According to Podlesny, in order to most effectively implement the projects, PAH will cooperate with water departments operating at the governing offices in the Iraqi provinces.

While implementing the projects, PAH also plans to cooperate with local communities. "These are poor people, who have often lost everything. As it is very difficult to find a job there, we plan to offer them work," Podlesny said.

PAH also wants to train local people to help them supervise the water infrastructure when it is ready, Podlesny said.

Apart from PAH, the consortium comprises the Czech organisation People in Need, the French ACTED and the German Welt Hunger Life. The Polish organisation will carry out 12 projects out of 67 planned by the consortium.
