BUCHAREST, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Moldova's Prime Minister Pavel Filip told local business people on Thursday that his government wanted to change the country's current economic model to one based on import of investment and export of products.

"Everything we do now in government is to change economic model of Moldova," the prime minister was quoted as saying by official Moldpres news agency, when attending the General Assembly of Moldova's National Confederation of Employers.

"The economic model based on export of people and import of consumption products is not one that will lead to country's development," stressed Filip, adding that the reforms are aimed at creating another model, based upon import of foreign direct investment and export of products.

The prime minister also said that the government's main objective is to ensure predictability and clear rules for entrepreneurs. In this respect, it was specified approval of budget -- fiscal policy for three years in 2017.

"There is nothing more important for business than to know that they are working in a fair and predictable environment," he said, adding that he himself comes from business environment and knows in detail all problems faced by entrepreneurs.

The participants in the discussion appreciated positive developments within recent period but listed segments requiring more attention, among which are lack of workforce, high rate of unofficial economy, need to improve loan terms for economic agents, public procurement legislation, and adoption of pro-business package.
