SOFIA, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian law enforcement authorities at the country's Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint near the border with Turkey have seized 191.22 kg of heroin, officials said Friday.
The illicit drug, split into 95 packages weighing about 2 kg each, was found on Wednesday by a customs dog in a truck entering from Turkey, the country's Interior Ministry, Prosecutor's Office and National Customs Agency said in a joint statement.
The truck with Turkish registration entering from Turkey was carrying terracol to Belgium, the statement said.
The driver of the vehicle, a 61-year-old Turkish citizen, was arrested at the scene, according to the statement.
Authorities estimated the value of the heroin on the black market would exceed 7.18 million U.S. dollars.
Bulgaria seized 602.6 kg of heroin at its borders in 2017.
