BERLIN, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Werder Bremen have re-signed their former striker Martin Harnik from Hannover, both Bundesliga clubs confirmed on Friday.

The Austrian international will increase Bremen's attacking options for the upcoming season, as Harnik has penned an undisclosed contract. Hannover and Bremen have agreed to keep silence over contract details.

"With his speed and experience he will give us more variability in our offense. Martin has demonstrated his qualities in recent years, both in the league and in the national team," Bremen head coach Florian Kohfeld said.

The 30-year-old striker played already from 2007 until 2010 for Bremen before he joined league rivals Stuttgart and Hannover. He scored overall 63 goals in 220 Bundesliga outings.

"Here in Bremen I turned professional and now I return after almost 10 years. In the meantime I never lost contact and always followed the club's development. I'm really looking forward playing again in front of the fans at the Weser stadium," Harnik said.

Bremen's new arrival played from 2007 until 2017 for Austria's national team and provided 15 goals in 65 caps. The "Green-Whites" completed the Bundesliga season on the 11th place of the table.
