PARIS, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Tens of thousands people walked out to the streets in French main cities on Saturday to protest against French President Emmanuel Macron's reform.

Organized by far-left party "Unbowed France," the hardline CGT trade union and 60 other organizations, the rally drew 250,000 people to participate in nationwide protest and 80,000 in Paris, unions figures showed.

The police, however, put the number at 21,000 in the French capital.

"We are mobilized for another social policy because the policy for the rich, that's enough," CGT leader Philippe Martinez was quoted as saying by local media.

It was the latest in a series of demonstrations against Macron's proposals to reform rail sector, change education system, reduce the number of lawmakers and so on.

The protest led to scores of arrests as some hooded youth and police clashed in Paris. Seven police officers were wounded when they intervened to prevent them from destroying a bank, Interior Minister Gerard Collomb told BFMTV news channel.

43 protesters were detained with 36 were put into custody on charges of holding arms, rebellion and participation in a group to commit violent acts, the minister added.
