SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, May 28 (Xinhua) -- A trooper and a civilian were killed in a militant attack on an army camp, while as three troopers were wounded in separate attack after their vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said Monday.

The attacks took place in Pulwama and Shopian districts, south of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

"Last night militants attacked an army camp at village Kakapora in Pulwama district. During the attack one trooper was killed and later on in the crossfire a civilian was also killed," a police official posted in Pulwama told Xinhua.

The area was cordoned off following the attack, however, militants have managed to escape.

Meanwhile, in an IED blast on Monday morning in adjacent Shopian district, three troopers were wounded.

The troopers were immediately removed to hospital, police said.

So far, no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Indian government has announced a conditional halt in its ongoing military operations during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in the region.

Sunday night's action was the first major attack since the announcement.

A guerilla war is going on between militants and Indian troopers stationed in the region since 1989.
