NEW DELHI, May 28 (Xinhua) -- India recognizes only those sanctions which are imposed on a country by the United Nations and not by any specific country (on any country), said India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Monday.
She was replying to a question on how India reacts to the recent U.S. sanctions on Iran.
Earlier this month, U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and ordered the re-imposition of U.S. sanctions against Iran that were suspended under the 2015 accord.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is in New Delhi and his Indian counterpart Swaraj is scheduled to meet him later on Monday.
Iran is India's third biggest oil supplier after Iraq and Saudi Arabia. The bilateral trade between Iran and India was 12.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2016-2017.
