MOSCOW, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov signed an intergovernmental agreement here on Monday scraping visa formalities for the mutual visits of Russian and Costa Rican citizens.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Costa Rica's Ambassador in Russia Arturo Fournier Facio, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
After this document takes effect, Russia will have visa-free agreements with all Central American countries, the ministry said.
The visa-free regimes "create new opportunities for developing contacts and ties with the states of this region in the economic, sporting, cultural, tourist and other fields," the ministry added.
