Croatia's hotel industry to see more investment in coming years: EY study

ZAGREB, May 28 (Xinhua) -- A study compiled by Croatian branch of Ernst & Young Consulting (EY) estimates that Croatia's hotel industry to see investments of nearly 9 billion kuna (1.38 billion U.S. dollars) by 2022, daily newspaper Jutarnji list reported on Monday.

According to the study, some 42 percent of the investments will come from Asia-based investors, indicating a shift in the origin of investors. So far, most of investments in the southeastern European country's hotel industry have come from within Europe.

It also shows that by 2022 there will be 6,000 new and 3,700 renovated hotel rooms in the country.

Croatia's tourism income surpassed 18 percent of its GDP in 2017, when the country achieved a historical result with more than 100 million overnight stays.
