ZAGREB, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The Croatian Ministry of Labor and Pension System, and the Croatian Employment Service launched on Tuesday a campaign to boost employment of domestic labor force.
The aim of the campaign "Find a job in Croatia" is to inform the general public of the possibilities of using employment policy measures and programs co-funded by the European Social Fund.
The Croatian government has provided more than 2.6 billion kuna (410 million U.S. dollars) in 2018 to boost employment. It is the largest amount ever allocated to the employment in Croatia, the Ministry of Labor and Pension System stated in a press release.
With the campaign "Find a job in Croatia", the Croatian Employment Service is presenting its new model to unemployed people. It is based on an individualized approach and concrete measures that could meet jobless people's needs.
According to the Croatian Employment Service, the unemployment rate in Croatia fell to 10.4 percent in April from 11.5 percent in March. In April 2017, the rate stood at 13.2 percent.
Despite the big drop in unemployment in a year, experts say that part of the reduction in unemployment is due to the reduction in workforce. Since the country joined the European Union in 2013, many Croatian citizens have emigrated in search of better work opportunities.
Citing a recent Eurostat survey, Croatian daily Jutarnji list reported on Tuesday that almost 350,000 people aged between 20 and 64 with Croatian citizenship are living in other EU countries. It is 31 percent more than in 2013.
Croatia currently has a labor force of 1.54 million among the total population of about 4.2 million people.
