DUBAI, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Holders of all types of passports of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can travel from Saturday to Brazil without prior visa arrangements, the UAE news agency WAM reported Friday.

"Holders of all types of UAE passports may travel, effective June 2, 2018, to Brazil without prior visa arrangements and stay for a maximum of 90 days each year," said the report, quoting Ambassador Ahmad Elham Al Daheri, assistant undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The UAE and Brazil have signed a visa exemption agreement to grant citizens of both countries with visa-free entry.

"The Brazilian government's initiative reaffirms the prestigious international stature boasted by the UAE and opens up new prospects for tourist, travel and investment exchanges between the two countries," he said.

The foreign affairs ministry has worked hard in recent years to bolster the country's position at the global level, Al Daheri said.

The increasing number of visa waivers reflects the ministry's keenness to provide distinguished consular services, and contribute to advancing economic relations with various countries, he said.

In the latest passport power ranking, the UAE comes 14th globally, leading the Middle East as the most powerful passport in terms of visa-free score.
