KIEV, June 4 (Xinhua) -- A lie detector test confirmed that lawmaker Nadiya Savchenko plotted a coup against the Ukrainian government, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said in a statement on Monday.

The results of the polygraph test indicated that Savchenko had planned a "violent overthrow of the constitutional order" and an "armed seizure of power," the SBU said.

The test also showed that Savchenko plotted to commit "terrorist attacks" in the government quarter and in the parliament building, it said.

Meanwhile, local media reported that Savchenko's lawyers considered the test "unreliable" and demanded a new polygraph examination.

On March 23, Savchenko, a member of the Ukrainian parliament, was arrested for 59 days without bail after the country's Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko accused her of planning a "large-scale terrorist attack" in central Kiev that aimed at a "forcible overthrow of the constitutional system and the seizure of state power in Ukraine."

Last month, a court in Kiev extended the pre-trial detention of the lawmaker until July 13.

Savchenko called the accusations against her "politically motivated" and launched a hunger strike.
