BANGKOK, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Northeastern Thai province of Nakhon Phanom is to host the 2018 Mekong Tourism Forum from June 26 to 29, according to the Thai minister of tourism and sports on Monday.

Weerasak Kowsurat made the announcement at a press conference held in his ministry. He said Thailand will propose the creation of the ASEAN-South Asia Buddhist Tourism Story Book.

And it will seek other members from the Greater Mekong Subregion to support the project, he added.

The minister noted that there will be a forum event inviting experts and experienced Buddhist tourism keynote speakers to the conference under the theme "Buddhist Tourism in the Mekong Region."

He said that holding the forum there may boost tourism in the province and the whole northeastern Thailand, which shares only a little of the kingdom's vast revenue from tourists.
