TIRANA, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Albania has the total support of Bulgaria in her path to open negotiations for European Union (EU) integration, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama declared on Monday during a joint press conference with visiting Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov.

Rama emphasized that Bulgaria has become the advocate of the Western Balkans, especially Albania and Macedonia and is making tremendous efforts, setting the agenda of the Western Balkans as the backbone of the EU Presidency program.

Rama underlined that the relationship with Bulgaria is extremely positive.

Moreover, Rama mentioned the important step taken by Albania when the Parliament passed the Law on National Minorities related to Bulgarian minorities in Albania.

According to Rama, Bulgaria offers a fine example of absorbing funds from the EU, so Albania wants to learn from this experience.

Meanwhile, Borisov underlined that Albania deserves a chance to open negotiations with EU.

"The better the countries of the region are to interconnect, the greater the prospects for investment, for peace and prosperity. It is true that they are calling for a lot of efforts, because we still have two states that are skeptical of Albania, but most European countries think that although on conditions, Albania should be given a date and a path to start negotiations in general for the EU and we must make great efforts to convince the countries that have remained in this regard by the end of June," stated Borisov.
