LONDON, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Following its stormy passage through Britain's unelected House of Lords, Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit Withdrawal Bill is to face its final big hurdle, it was announced Monday.

The European Union Withdrawal Bill, which will transfer all EU law into British next March, faces a day on intense voting in the House of Commons on June 12.

MPs in the House of Commons will debate the Brexit bill next week, and decide the fate of 15 amendments passed by the House of Lords.

Political commentators said Monday it will be a trial of strength for Prime Minister May and her leading ministers, with politicians likely to be burning midnight oil as voting continues into Wednesday.

The Independent newspaper in London May seek to overturn all 15 Lords defeats on her flagship Brexit legislation in a single dramatic day next week, will put her authority on the line.

Following last year's snap general election May emerged heading a minority government and has to rely on backing for her measures from the small group of Democratic Unionist MPs.

The dilemma for May is that some of her own Conservative peers in the upper chamber supported opposition party amendments to the government bill.

The amendments will determine on the say lawmakers in parliament will have on the Brexit process.

Major issues for lawmakers to grapple with will be Britain leaving the EU customs union and single market as well as the border between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic once Britain quits the bloc.

Party managers have already started to make preparations for a marathon sitting of parliament in the wood-paneled chamber when there is a frenzy of votes next week, with the prospect of a late-night sitting.

The Conservative party's chief whip in the House of Commons, Julian Smith, confirmed in a letter to MPs that all of the amendments to the Brexit Bill will be debated on June 12.

But there was criticism from the main opposition whip's office, with Labor describing as holding all of the crucial votes on the same day as an absolute disgrace.

Pro-remain London Labor MP David Lammy commented: "This shows total contempt of parliament to try and railroad 15 amendments through in just a single session. This piece of legislation will have huge consequences for the future of our country for generations to come."

Meanwhile a Downing Street spokesperson for May responded Monday to an article in yesterday's London Sunday Times claiming government civil servants has warned of a "Doomsday Brexit" if there is no deal, creating shortages of medicine, fuel and food in Britain.

Downing Street told media in London that Britain would be fully prepared for leaving the EU without a deal, staying May still believed no deal is better than a bad deal.

"A significant amount of work has been done to make sure the UK could cope without a Brexit agreement," the Downing Street spokesperson added.
