Singapore unveils commemorative medallions to mark Trump-Kim summit

SINGAPORE, June 5 (Xinhua) -- To commemorate the summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un, which is scheduled to be held here next week, the Singapore Mint unveiled Tuesday three commemorative medallions.

The three medallions are of the same design but are made of gold, silver and base metal respectively. They all bear the national flags of the two countries and the handshake between the two leaders on one side, and feature a peace dove and the national flowers of the two countries on the other side.

The Singapore Mint said in a statement that the design of a peace dove was meant to embody the significance of the summit to bring about to world peace.

They also carry the scheduled summit date of June 12 and the words "Summit in Singapore" on the same side to signal Singapore's hosting of the summit.

Customers can pre-order the medallions at the Singapore Mint retail outlets and its e-store, with the prices ranging from 1,380 Singapore dollars (about 1,034 U.S. dollars) to 36 Singapore dollars (about 27 U.S. dollars).
