Alstom wins 150-mln-euro deal in Norway

PARIS, June 5 (Xinhua) -- French transport facility manufacturer Alstom announced on Tuesday a business accord worth over 150 million euros (175 million U.S. dollars) to supply national on-board train control system in Norway.

Alstom and Norwegian railway authority Bane NOR singned a deal under which the French firm will "equip the entire Norwegian railway fleet with the ERTMS on-board train control solution and to maintain the system for up to 25 years."

Expected to be completely installed by 2026, the new on-board system aims at making the Norwegian railway network more efficient and reliable, reducing delays for passengers and freight services, while guaranteeing the highest levels of safety, the French company said.

The new deal covers the serial installation of the on-board solution on 467 trains of 55 different types, with the first trains are planned to start operation on Norwegian lines in 2022, it added in a statement.

Alstom, a multinational company in rail transport markets, posted 8 billion euros of sales in the 2017-2018 fiscal year. (1 euro=1.17 U.S. dollar)
