TUNIS, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed decided Wednesday to dismiss Minister of Interior Lotfi Brahem from his post, the source from Tunisian Government Presidency.
The current Minister of Justice Ghazi Jeribi will take the interim.
Tunisian Government Presidency has not revealed the reason for this decision. Some local analysts believed the decision was taken after the boat sinking of migrants last Saturday night off the southeastern coast of Tunisia, killing at least 63.
Shortly before this decision, Lotfi Brahem had announced to dismiss ten senior security officials in Sfax province.
However, some analysts believed this decision was linked to the expiry of a 48-hour-ultimatum granted by Youssef Chahed to Lotfi Brahem, in order to find the former Interior Minister Najem Gharsalli, who is on the run and pursued by Tunisian justice for involvement in affecting national security.
