LOS ANGELES, June 6 (Xinhua) -- A man living in Great Falls of northwestern U.S. Montana state was sentenced to 100 years in prison on each of seven counts of sexual assault on two children.

David Dean Komeotis, 39 years old, was charged with seven counts for molesting the two children over a six-year span, according to Great Falls Tribune.

Great Falls police first learned of the abuse in December 2016 when a woman reported that her son told her Komeotis had molested him two years earlier.

The original charge was filed in February 2017 and as the case progressed, more incidents were revealed. In November 2017, the woman reported to the police that another of her children, a girl, was also a victim of Komeotis.

The girl said Komeotis raped her from when she was six years old until she was 11.

The victims are now 10 and 19 years old, and the abuse took place when they were six and 12 years old. According to state law, since both of the victims were younger than 12 years old while Komeotis was older than 18, he was sentenced to 100 years in prison on each of the counts.

Deputy County Attorney Matt Robertson had initially asked Judge Greg Pinski to run all 100-year sentences consecutively. Komeotis' public defender asked for a lesser sentence that would eventually allow him to attend community-based sex offender treatment.

Eventually, the first two charges will run consecutively, while the other five will run concurrent to the first, which means a net jail term of 200 years. Komeotis will not be eligible for parole for 50 years.

Pinski said that Komeotis still blames the victims and others for his own behaviors. He wanted the sentencing to speak loudly to the victims in this case and they do not need to live in fear of Komeotis.
