Mongolia hosts series of events to boost bilateral ties with Russia

ULAN BATOR, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Mongolian President Khaltmaa Battulga on Thursday announced the start of the "Mongolia-Russia Initiative 2018" that aims to strengthen bilateral ties.

"We hope that the series of events will help enrich the strategic partnership between our two countries and give a new impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, industry, investment and culture," Battulga said at the launching ceremony of the program.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory letter to the ceremony, in which he said that Russia has always attached great importance to its relations with Mongolia.

"Our two countries have great potential to further strengthen bilateral cooperation," the letter read.

During the three-day event, business leaders from various sectors including agriculture, light industry, energy, construction and transportation will meet to discuss cooperation opportunities.

Meanwhile, a machinery expo will take place at the central square of the capital city of Ulan Bator.
