TEHRAN, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced that its forces have disbanded a terrorist cell near Iran's northwestern borders with Iraq, local media reported on Sunday.
The IRGC statement said that its forces on Saturday managed to destroy the armed terrorist cell in Oshnavieh border region, killing and injuring seven terrorists.
The terrorist group, the affiliation of which was not identified in the statement, had planned to infiltrate into Iran from northern Iraq but was totally dismantled.
The IRGC forces sustained no casualties in the operation, it said.
In the similar incident, the clashes between Iranian security forces and the rebel groups at Sardasht border post on Wednesday left two border guards killed.
West and northwest of Iran has witnessed sporadic clashes between the Iranian Kurdish militants and the country's security forces over the past years.
