LIMA, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Peru has a list of investment projects in the hydrocarbons sector which is expected to attract around 12 billion U.S. dollars in investment by 2022, minister of energy and mines said here on Monday.

Energy and Mines Minister Francisco Ismodes said the government will ensure these projects are fully developed by the deadline to improve the sector's productivity and infrastructure.

As part of these efforts, Ismodes said that one of the government targets is to supply natural gas to the homes of 32 million Peruvians, with only 2.5 million receiving this service at the moment.

"This is not enough. We must promote natural gas for it to arrive at all urban homes in the country," he said during the opening of the forum, "Peru Energy 2018: Technology and changes for a strategic sector."

Ismodes also referred to the target of providing electricity for the 420,000 families who do not have this basic service, which would require an investment of around 600 million dollars into distribution networks.

"The target is to provide electricity for 100 percent of the population," he said, pointing to 11 existing national grid expansion projects with an investment of 527 million dollars.
