German police arrest suspected IS member

BERLIN, June 12 (Xinhua) -- German law enforcement authority revealed on Tuesday that police have arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the Islamic State (IS).

According to a statement posted on the official website of the Federal Prosecutor General of the Federal Court of Justice, the accused is "strongly suspected of having participated" as a member of the foreign terrorist organizations Islamic State.

The 18-year-old Iraqi national Arqam A. is charged of various acts, including joining the IS in October 2014 in Mosul, Iraq, completing a military training, providing security services at the IS, and participating in battles for the Iraqi city of Baidschi.

According to the arrest warrant, in October 2015, the accused left Iraq, and in February 2016, he traveled to Germany.

The suspect's apartment in Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg was searched.
