Haraguchi swaps Berlin for Hannover

BERLIN, Jun 12 (Xinhua) -- Japan international Genki Haraguchi transferred from Hertha Berlin to league rivals Hannover, both Bundesliga clubs announced on Tuesday.

Hannover wrapped up their fourth summer singing as Haraguchi signed a three-year deal running until June 2021.

"It is pleasant that a World Cup player has opted for us. We keep our fingers crossed for Genki and his Japanese teammates. Genki is variable, fast and strong in one-on-ones," Hannover head coach Andre Breitenreiter said.

The 27-year-old striker has played since 2014 for Hertha Berlin and scored four goals in 91 competitive appearances. He was loaned to promoted Dusseldorf last season and made 10 games.

Haraguchi has been since 2011 part of Japan's national team where he marked six goals in 30 caps. Hannover's new arrival received the No. 10 jersey and will join his new team after the World Cup in Russia.

Hannover maintained their German top-flight status after finishing on the 12th place of the Bundesliga standings. Enditem
