ATHENS, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Greece can become a new success story for Europe after facing a severe financial crisis, European Stability Mechanism (ESM) chief Klaus Regling said on Wednesday in Athens.

The euro zone official pays a two-day visit to Greece to discuss with Greek officials the latest developments on the course of the Greek economy as Greece is set to exit this August the third bailout program since 2010.

During a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Regling congratulated Greece for the achievements made, urging for more work to be done to achieve debt relief and growth.

"The ESM will also be very happy if Greece becomes our 5th success story," Regling said on the camera of the Greek state broadcaster ERT as the Greek PM welcomed him in his office.

The ESM head congratulated Tsipras on the historic agreement announced on Tuesday for the settlement of the name dispute with neighboring Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).

"I feel like a chess player playing simultaneously two games. We have at the same time the name issue negotiations and the crucial negotiations for the debt issue," Tsipras said.

"I am hoping as yesterday we had a breakthrough, the same we will have next week on maybe the most crucial issue for the country after eight years," he added, referring to the upcoming Euro group meeting which will examine the Greek crisis issue.
