BEIJING, June 15 (Xinhua) -- China's Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday launched an upgraded human-machine collaboration platform, as part of the push to improve the efficiency and quality of its Artificial Intelligence-based news production system.

The platform name "MAGIC" is a combination of MGC (machine-generated content) and AI, as it is designed to be incorporated into every stage of news production, from finding leads, to news gathering, editing, distribution and finally feedback analysis.

The platform is supported by four intelligent sub-systems, namely data mining, an intelligent database, AI algorithms and a recommendation system.

One of the strengthened functions of "MAGIC" is fast-speed news production, which is capable of gathering, editing and producing a news video in just 10 seconds. It has the ability to automatically produce over 10,000 news videos during the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The platform, also known as Media Brain 2.0, came five months after the news agency released the first version of Media Brain, a first-of-its-kind platform in China that brought cloud computing, the Internet of Things, Big Data and AI technology into news production.

Established in November 1931, Xinhua operates 32 domestic branches and 180 overseas bureaus worldwide, reaching people in over 200 countries and regions. Enditem
