MOSCOW, June 17 (Xinhua) -- FIFA have ruled that France's second goal against Australia in the World Cup Group C opener was an own goal from Aziz Behich, its official website showed on Sunday.

In the 81st minute of the match on Saturday, a shot from France midfielder Paul Pogba looped off the Australian defender before hitting the underside of the crossbar and bouncing just over the goal line. The goal helped France secure a 2-1 win over Australia.

However, the official FIFA website showed that the goal had subsequently been attributed to an own goal from Behich, who got the final touch.

After the match on Saturday, Manchester United midfielder Pogba told the press that the Australian had touched the ball, but added that the three points was all that mattered.

France will face Peru in their next game on June 21, while Australia meet Denmark on the same day.
