BRATISLAVA, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The one-year Slovak presidency of the Visegrad Four (V4) countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) will be based on three main priorities: a strong Europe, a safe environment and intelligent solutions, Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry State Secretary Ivan Korcok announced on Wednesday.
The Slovak presidency of the V4 will build on the results of previous presidencies and will seek closer coordination with the Czech Republic, which is set to take over the presidency after Slovakia.
"There's the promotion of unity wherever possible, and so we'll seek agreement in areas that we can jointly push through at the European level. Secondly, it's offering solutions where it's beneficial, and we want to jointly implement projects that have a practical positive impact on the people of our countries. Thirdly, it's respect for differences where necessary, meaning that we'll seek consensus in full respect of national interests," stressed Korcok.
The main objective of the Slovak presidency of the V4 is to offer concrete results in favour of people living in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic. It will start on July 1, 2018.
