MOSCOW, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Dele Ali looks likely to miss England's second Group G match as a result of the thigh strain he picked up during their 2-1 win against Tunisia on Monday night.

The Tottenham midfielder missed Thursday's training session as England returned to work following Wednesday's rest day to prepare for Sunday's match against Panama in Nizhny Novgorod.

A win on Sunday would almost certainly assure Gareth Southgate's men of a place in the last 16 before they face Belgium in the final group game.

Ali limped out of the opening game in the 80th minute despite having apparently suffered the injury in the first half, and the England camp later confirmed he had a 'minor' problem.

If he doesn't recover in time, his place in the starting lineup will likely be taken either by Fabian Delph or Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who produced an impressive 10-minute cameo when he replaced Ali in the closing minutes in Volgograd.

Southgate was able to direct Thursday's training with no apparent problems even though he needed hospital treatment on Wednesday after dislocating his shoulder while out running.
